France has already implemented caps on bonuses, and would like to see them made international sanctions.

Some particularly poignant quotes from Sarkozy:

"We will propose a strengthening of sanctions towards banks that do not play by the rules and we will even raise the issue of limiting the size of bonuses."

"I will never forget the sleepless nights, when we had to find billions before the markets opened to save this or that bank."

"I will never accept that those who plunged us into the worst crisis since 1930 be allowed to do it again."

    • France has continually been the voice of reason where the United States has left off in the last decade or more. They have refused to take part in wars that were not in favor of the people, they have continually shown success of social reform... I am thinking I may need to learn French...
