Ban for feeding obese dog crisps & chocolate.

A man in Macclesfield has been banned from keeping dogs for ten years after allowing his dalmation, Barney to become chronically obese. The eight year old dog got to 70kg (11st) almost twice his normal size.

His owner fed him crisps & chocolate, but pleaded guilty to causing unneccessary suffering. The court was told, in mitigation, that John Green treated Barney as more of a friend than a dog and that he did not set out to deliberately harm the dog.

Lucky the poor animal didn't die, as I thought that chocolate could kill pets.

Fortunately Barney is now in an RSPCA centre and looking for a new home.
