Thierry Henry has admitted he considered giving up on international football after the worldwide backlash against his controversial handball during France's World Cup qualifier against Ireland.
Asked if the pressure nearly forced him to retire from international duty, Henry said: "Oh yes. Friday, when it all went too far, I was very worked up. The day after the match, and the day after that, I felt alone, really alone.
It was only after I issued my statement that the people from the French Federation got in touch."
On The Sun's website, one user says "Yeah yeah yeah... of course you were! Trying to rebuild your image are you? Too late, a great player but you are a cheat!
However, over on Yahoo! Sport, user James F defends Henry, saying "I really do feel the pains of the Irish, they are very passionate about football. But i believe that Thierry Henry regrets this awful incidence and should be forgiven."
What do you think?

I don't think you can really blame Henry, it happened in the heat of the moment and the ref missed it. If he had owned up the ref might not have changed his decision anyway. I'm not normally a big fan of Roy Keane but his reaction to the whole affair was priceless, its worth sticking with till the end

So he nearly quit, just like he nearly didn't cheat, and nearly admitted to the ref he had hit the ball with his hand. Interesting
