The infamous sign "Arbeit Macht Frei" has been stolen from outside the Auschwitz death camp in Poland.
Police are on the search for the culprits after the sign was stolen during the night.
The sign roughly translates as "work brings freedom"

The sad part of the story is the sign is the #1 tourist draw for the entire country of Poland. Oh well, sounds like they got it back. No need to cancel any plans for your Polish "holiday" now:]

The museum spokesman told newspapers: "The thieves either didn't know where they were or – what's even worse – they did know but that didn't prevent them from stealing."
I'd be amazed if somebody didn't know what that sign was. Which raises the question: why would they want it? Memorabilia for far-right groups, perhaps?
