Dadda is more popular than Mamma whilst most children's first word is uttered at 10 to 11 months of age according to a new study.
Now I can see where children get cat and hoover from, but beer? At least daddy is spending time with the little darlings I guess.

babys normally say first words such as momma, dadda, babba because they are the most easiest to pronounce with the lips and with out use of the tongue (muscle) - which takes a lot more dexterity and practice.

Do first words count only if the kid clearly knows what beer, Hoovers and cats are? Maybe they're gurgling and dribbling and in among a load of indecipherable noises, something that songs like 'beer' squeaks out?
My first word was boat. I can't remember how old I was but my mum says i pointed at a boat at the time and said it. If only my parents had known about Mensa.
