Current community: if somebody broke into your house, what would you do?

In Britain, more and more people are taking the law into their own hands to protect themselves or get what they perceive to be justice. Is this vigilantism confined to just a few areas of the country or could your next door neighbour have a baseball bat stashed under the bed in case a burglar pays a visit?

Its a subject we're interested in here at Current and we'd love it if you could take a very quick survey to help us out. It's totally anonymous, you don't need to register or enter any personal details and it'll take less than a minute to fill out.

On Monday 8th March, we're screening a fanatastic documentary called Vigilante Britain on Current TV at 10pm. Here's a teaser of what to expect:

    • funny... somebody broke into my house almost two years ago, I came home to find them in my living room. they attacked me, I fought them off and forced them out of my house, then called the cops and reported the incodent. the cops finally came about three HOURS later... the cops fabricated a story saying that my house was a 'possible' meth lab (they say it's why my house was broken into) and (the state) charged ME (the victim) with battery for dragging the person out the door in a headlock... sadly the cops the never arrested the person and only charged them with battery and NOT breaking and entering, nor assault, nor vandalism. I had to file these charges myself.

lesson #1 kick the persons ass yourself.
lesson #2 NEVER get the cops involved, they only make things worse.
lesson #3 Cops can claim your house is a 'suspected' meth lab and treat you (the victim) like a criminal because cops have ZERO PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY.

    • Quite simply if anyone lays a disparaging hand on my pregnant girlfriend and our unborn child I will rip they're heart out. Once upon a time the law protected the innocent, now it protects the rights of the guilty.

    • I'd probably write a diss rap, let them know where they stood.

Self-defence is impractical but morally just. I wouldn't want to practise it but I can't deny anybody else the right to defend themselves from invaders.
