ITV was forced to apologised to the viewers who watched the England vs. USA match in high definition, after Stephen Gerrard's goal for England was cut off.
ITV blamed a technical hitch in its automated system to screen ads, adding that a small percentage of viewers were affected. ITV's standard definition service was unaffected.
The game itself: England 1-1 USA (Clint Dempsey scored that goal for the USA)

Not exactly the first time ITV have had a 'technical hitch' of this nature, they cut to an ad break during an FA Cup tie between Liverpool and Everton. They cut back to the game to see Everton celebrating their winner.
