Rooney sits out training due to ankle injury

Nobody panic but... Wayne Rooney skipped a training session today, opting instead to spend time in a swimming pool exercising an ankle injury he picked up during England's disappointing 1-1 draw against USA this weekend.

Luckily it's not thought to be too serious and Rooney's expected to start against Algeria on Friday.

Things aren't looking as positive for Ledley King, who obtained a groin injury in the same USA match. The FA will "access his injury on a daily basis" but The Guardian reports that England's medical team are worried that the defender's tournament is over.

    • Rooney's not the problem it's King that's left us with a real problem. Without him we're left with a couple of chuggers at the back seriously susceptible to pace.
