A lesbian dressed in a sumo wrestler suit is accused of attacking her ex-lover as she waved at a man dressed as a Snickers bar at a costume party held at gay bar in Dublin.
According to reports, 32-year-old Sandra Talbot assaulted Adrienne Martin with a Smirnoff bottle she had hidden in her inflatable sumo costume after a heated confrontation, a court heard.
When the defendant spotted the victim at the bar she intentionally bumped into her and said: “Keep smiling, cunt.”
Later in the evening, when the victim waved to a man dressed as a Snickers bar, the defendant pushed her arm and said “Your arm’s in my way.” That’s when Talbot “flipped” and began arguing with her. “The next thing, I got a blow to the left side of my head beside the temple,” the victim told a court. “My knees went from under me and I went down. She walked away, laughing and sneering at me. I had a massive lump on the side of my head.”
Talbot was escorted from the bar, but was asked to partially deflate her costume to get through the door.
The women dated for three years, but have been in a feud since the relationship ended in March 2007.
But this isn’t the first time things turned physical between two. A court heard how the victim provoked an argument with the defendant at a gay pride event after their breakup in March. Talbot said the victim and her new girlfriend wore T-shirts directed at her. One woman’s T-shirt read “Who’s sorry now?”, and the other’s stated: “Sandra is.”
The defendant was convicted on assault charges and ordered to pay a $600 fine, but she insists she never hit the victim. “I had a big row with her but I didn’t touch her,” Talbot said.
