A teenager who was a contender for the British Olympics team in 2012 is starting a four-year sentence after admitting three cash van robberies. Olu Oyewobi, 18, was described by his running club as "one of the top athletes for his age in the country". He excelled at 400m hurdles, but also ran 100m and 200m sprints. But 15 months ago he was involved in a string of robberies and suddenly stopped training. He and others attacked a security guard and stole a cash box containing £10,000 at Selco Building Suppliers in East London. He also planned to rob a Post Office cash van, but guards got suspicious about Oyewobi's behaviour and called police. Until then he had been a rising star at the famous Enfield and Haringey Athletic Club. The club secretary Ray Gibbins had no idea why Oyewobi had suddenly stopped training and running.
