    • Of course they can. Just like the Vietnamese fought France and then the US to a standstill. We are spending billions while they can keep the fight going for the cost of some rocket launchers, small arms and bullets. If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times, it's simply a waiting game for them. They don't have to win battles, all they have to do is keep fighting until we can no longer afford to keep troops over there.

    • They can go forever but the key is to set up the current afghan government so that they to can go forever. I will say though that if we just abandoned the Geneva convention and just really let them have it we could end this war, but the loss of life probably would not be worth it.

    • yeah they have proven in the past that in afghanistan they can hunker down with the best of them and fight the long fight against insurmountable odds. unless we are prepared to nuke the entire country there is no quit in them, and the sooner obama acknowledges this the better. does that mean we quit? i honestly dont know. we need to stop the horrors perpetuated on women in the talibans name. there must be a better way to do that than through a war of attrition that will never end

Tis sad, I am new testament guy myself. I would like to think that Jesus prince of peace is a good model. My Islamic buddies seem to have a similar view, though Jesus is just a really good prophet in their world.

We really should start thinking about goals and tools. How we got where we are and how to get out of it.

There have always been atheists, there have always been believers, there will always be both. The key is to create an environment we can both live in without wanting to kill each other all the time. It is obvious that certain religious sects, evangelicals for example, want no form of peace they want absolute control or nothing at all.
