Today was declared the 'day of victory' for the Egyptian people, as hundreds of thousands gathered in cities like Cairo and Alexandria to celebrate the popular uprising which ousted President Hosni Mubarak from power.
Google executive Wael Ghonim, considered to be one of the major pillars of this revolution, was prevented from taking the stage at Tahrir Square to address the crowds on Friday. Ghonim used Internet social sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to garner support and organize the mass demonstrations that eventually brought down Mubarak in eighteen days.
