Oh yes,....he certainly HAS - - -
[ Others, like the novelist Michael Moorcock, have attacked Middle-earth as a childishly rose-tinted vision of the Merrie Olde England that never was, as well as willfully blind to the hardships and injustice of preindustrial and feudal societies. ]
- It was the first real fantasy I read for myself,.....( I think my mother actually read the Hobbit to me ) in 4th grade. Damn,....psyches are IMPRESSIONABLE at that age; corrupted me for life !

remanns:
To read Tolkien--actually almost all fantasy--one must suspend your sense of modern justice. All the "to the manor" born stuff drives me nuts. Hence, the term "fantasy." We have to pretend that everyone is happy in their place. I enjoy Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" a lot. But there is a nagging ringing in my ear of "people fought and died so they wouldn't live under a king" while I'm reading it.
