Top five scariest avalanche videos
An avalanche is the land equivalent to a tsunami, a force so great it will engulf and sweep away anything that comes in its path. To anyone who likes going off the beaten track - on a snowboard or on skis - an avalanche is a real danger and a potential killer.
In our new show Man Versus Earth, experienced off piste snowboarder Sam Branson goes to the US to find out how to survive an avalanche and you can watch him being buried alive in the name of science here.

1. Chris Bilbao gets buried alive for a long time!
The most terrifying account of what it's be like to be buried deep under a concrete blanket of snow. It's dark, you can't see, you can't breathe and no one can hear you cry. Luckily for Chris he wasn't skiing alone and luckily for us he had a camera on his helmet.
2. Skier buried in massive avalanche in Norway
This viking is swept away over a huge cliff and into a bunch of trees. It's a good thing the video doesn't have any subtitles because these guys swear a lot!
