Two local petrolheads are set to represent High Wycombe in an exciting new grassroots motorsport series taking place at Santa Pod Raceway on August 21st. Luke Woodham and Cliff Judson are amongst hundreds of UK racers that are heading to Santa Pod Raceway to compete in the Fueltopia barrel Sprint series (FBS).
The Fueltopia Barrel Sprint is a new form of racing that crosses drag racing with drifting. Competitors must go head-to-head against each other as they navigate 360 degrees around three barrels over a 100 meter sprint. Each lane is timed and the fastest car to cross the line is the winner.
Luke Woodham, has entered the FBS series in his tuned Nissan 200SX. The car is rear-wheeled drive and has been set-up for the art of drifting having had the interior removed and roll cage fitted. Luke has always had a penchant for speed from racing motorcross at an early age he has progressed through bikes to cars. The FBS series allows anyone with a road legal car and a driving licence to enter, keeping racing off the streets and on the track so therefore fully supported by these two local racers.
He’ll not be entering alone and will be joined by Cliff Judson who is a familiar face on the drag racing circuit. Cliff drives a modified Nissan R33 Skyline GTR that has been set up for drag racing. The FBS is something new and Cliff is keen to put his driving and his car to the challenge, he says “ I’ll freely admit that this is a huge challenge, friends have forever mocked my lack of circuit driving ability, even though I won the street class title in the 2008 Pro Street Drag series.”
