Qaddafi pleas to save Lybia go unheeded; the end of a regime

The scene was familiar: masses of people in Tripoli, the Libyan capital, in sheer hysteria, waving flags, shooting in the air, all as part of a celebration. A version of Tahrir Square as it looked on February 14th, 2011 when former president Hosni Mubarak officially stepped down from power. The euphoria was accompanied by cheers at the news that Qaddafi's son, Saif al Islam, had been captured, and that another son, Mohammed, had surrendered to rebel forces. There was no footage to support these claims, though al-Jazeera reported this evening that Mohammed Qaddafi had been talking to their Arabic channel, stating that he was held under house arrest.

It is not only celebration time in Tripoli, but in Benghazi as well, in Freedom Square, one could hear shots in the air, whistles, people chanting and waving the tricolor Libyan flag. Is it premature? It is hard to tell, since there have been no further messages from Colonel Qaddafi.
