As the search for Gaddafi continues, the United Nations has urged all sides involved in the Libya conflict to exercise restraint to avoid revenge attacks and escalating violence.
The plea comes as rebels continue their attempts to reach Sirte, facing increased resistance from those loyal to Gaddafi who are fighting to defend his home city.
The UN has released £1bn of Libyan assets, previously held under sanctions to allow humanitarian aid for citizens as food and fuel supplies run low.
Reports of human rights abuses by both Gaddafi’s troops and rebels remain unconfirmed.
