According to the Reuters News Agency, a large military convoy has been seen crossing from Libya into Niger this evening. The convoy comprises 200 to 250 vehicles and is transporting Libyan military officers; Reuters learned of the convoy from French and Niger sources, and it has been speculated that Colonel Qaddafi and his son, Saif al-Islam would be joining the convoy. The convoy is headed to Burkina Faso, a country that has offered Qaddafi political asylum.

Though the offer for political asylum came from Burkina Faso two weeks ago, the country has recognized the new Libyan Transitional Council as the legitimate governing force of the country. Burkina Faso was the recipient of Qaddafi largess, and is also a signatory to the International Criminal Court. The ICC has already issued an arrest warrant for Qaddafi and his son on charges of crimes against humanity.
