Syria: 'There will be no classes until the president is brought down'

Yesterday marked the official start date of Syria's school year, yet students are boycotting classes. They have joined demonstrations against Bashar al-Assad's regime near Damascus (the capital) , and refuse to attend institutions that deliver the Baath ideology of the dictatorship.

Today, five deaths were reported in the Homs region, as textbooks were burned during protests.
