A 30-year-old man has been convicted of the murder of his wife after a row that escalated when she damaged his Star Wars memorabilia.
Rickie La Touche of Leigh, Greater Manchester, claimed that his wife Pornpilai Srisroy, aged 28 and originally from Thailand, smashed the toys to make his life hell.
Though the destruction of the memorabilia collection triggered an argument which eventually led to Srisroy’s death by asphyxiation, Preston Crown Court heard that La Touche – also known as Rickie Nehls – committed the crime as he feared his wife was going to leave him and return to Thailand.
He was found guilty by the jury and will serve a minimum of 12 years in jail.
