I will delete my Facebook account on July 4th, 2012 if Zuckerberg does not withdraw his support of CISPA. Who's with me? | Facebook

What is Facebook thinking? They've signed on in support of CISPA -- the new bill that would obliterate online privacy, give the military crazy new abilities to spy on the Internet, and potentially let ISPs block sites and cut off users accused of piracy.

Why did I choose July 4th, 2012?

Two reasons: I wanted to make it far enough in the future that we could build up a large number of people willing to do this and secondly, it's Independence Day!

    • Deleting your facebook is useless, because you can't. It's always there. I have deleted it before and then gone to start it back up and everything I had posted before was all there. Facebook doesn't allow you to delete what you post there because they have copyright to everything.

    • NOTE : I'm sorry but i should have made it clear that this is not my Facebook Event , I have not got a Facebook account and those that have will one day wake up and realize that they have given their email address , phone number, photograph, place of work ,town of residence and immediate location to this internet spawned bastard that is Facebook. This site though claims credit for many progressive events in the changing social structure that we are a part of yet has done nothing with all its power and finance to benefit our cause for the restructure of our system. It is us the people, the individual, the unemployed, the hard worker, the man and woman on the street, not an internet site , not an overly wealthy entrepreneur who seeks to take from those that gave him his success.

Just Facebook is not enough. I say everyone cancel their current, twitter, and non-progressive sites as well and I'll be in. Nothing says stupid like 140 characters of abbreviations and single letter reps. So on independence day everyone cancels their facebook, twitter, and all non-progressives political sites in protest?

    • That's totally the WRONG approach. It will leave Facebook with the lemmings of their dreams. The BEST way to punish Zuckerberg, is to get as many people as you can to sign on now with fake names and have them all make the same batch of stupid demands, like changing the colors to pink and green, adding a Kindle page and an mp3 library and a blog ticker at the bottom so you can keep up with perez hilton, cenk u-something, and rush Limbaugh, and an etch-a-sketch app that works with touch-screen tablets. When he finally caves to all the demands, THEN dump Facebook. Then find his house on Google Earth and whiz on his lawn. And maybe his car(s).
