HSUS Charity Navigator rating was reduced to 3 star. Probably due to the lies and personal attacks they make on people who tell the truth and expose them. Also the fact that they are a lobbying group for vegans and don't contribute money to real animal care programs like they want you to believe. You don't have to like the Center For Consumer Freedom but you can't argue with the actual documents they post that expose these folks. Check out www.humanewatch.org for more.

The HSUS is not affiliated with local animal shelters, nor do we claim to be: http://www.humanesociety.org/animal_community/resources/qa/common_questions_on_s....
The HSUS encourages people to adopt homeless pets from shelters, but also recognizes that some people are more comfortable going to responsible breeders: http://www.humanesociety.org/issues/puppy_mills/tips/finding_good_dog_breeder.ht....
WSB/TV (the station responsible for the segment above) issued a correction and removed the story from its website shortly after it aired. This television piece relies on misinformation from the Center for Consumer Freedom, a front group for alcohol, tobacco, and agribusiness interests. Had WSB-TV reporters checked, they would have quickly discovered that the CCF’s stock-in-trade involves taking aim at organizations that promote food safety, public health or animal welfare. The HSUS has consistently received a four-star rating from Charity Navigator and our work speaks for itself.
