Allstate has an impressive legacy of supporting safety legislation. They were among the first to support seatbelt and airbags laws as well as shepherding other educational efforts beneficial to the lives of American drivers.
Allstate is supporting a pivotal piece of legislation designed to help prevent teen driving deaths - the STANDUP (Safe Teen and Novice Driver Uniform Protection) Act (S.528, H.R. 515).
The STANDUP Act would set national minimum standards for Graduated Drivers Licensing (GDL) laws. GDL programs introduce teens to the driving experience gradually and in lower risk settings. According to the CDC, strong GDL laws can reduce teen driver crashes by up to 40% among 16 year olds. (Source: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008)
Your challenge is to bring to life our message:
Allstate believes that the STANDUP Act will help eliminate preventable teen driving deaths. Help Allstate illustrate why The STANDUP Act is so important to the lives of American teenagers.
These videos can take many forms and creative directions but you should consider one of two paths:
An emotional consumer driven testimonial (e.g. Portray a parent who recently lost a child, a walk down memory lane, the joys of being a parent, a celebration of life, etc.). The video can be shot artistically, raw or polished – but the idea (and the challenge) is to imagine our assignment in a way that's beautiful, emotional, dramatically moving or meaningful enough to have a viewer think, "This is a cause that I can get behind and support."

Target audiences:
The main target for the consumer driven videos are community opinion leaders – e.g. Active community members concerned about the well-being of others. They are the best prospects for rallying behind an issue & driving real change. Allstate is looking to engage this group to demonstrate their support for the STANDUP Act, encouraging their elected officials to act.
A secondary target audience for statistically driven videos is the Washington D.C. Elite – e.g. Members of Congress, their staff, and policy influencers. Allstate is looking for co-sponsors of this Act in order to take the STANDUP Act from a proposed bill to a law awaiting the President's signature.

Compensation:
At their sole discretion, Allstate may select up to 4 videos. If your video is selected and approved by Allstate, you will earn $5,000.

Requirements:
Videos should be :25 or 55 second spots (:05 second end-tags will be provided in post)
You must have the rights to all images and music used in your video. Do not incorporate assets from other websites, including "royalty-free" sites, or any recognizable 3rd-party products (e.g. personal electronics, soda, alcohol, cars, etc) or logos.
Ensure those who appear in your video are not wearing any apparel featuring 3rd-party logos or copyrighted designs. If you have questions about what usage is advisable, please email vcam@current.com
Anyone who appears in or works on your video must sign a release form.
You need a signed location release form for each privately owned location featured in your video even if such location is not recognizable (e.g. interior shots in a residence) or is filmed from public property.
We recommend that you use music from our pre-cleared library with APM Music, the largest and most dynamic production music library in the world.
If you use original music from an independent composer/performer, you need signed Master and Sync Use licenses. All songs must be original compositions that do not sample any copyrighted music.
Any submission or portion thereof that is in the Sponsor's sole discretion, obscene, profane, lewd, inappropriate, defamatory, contains any content unsuitable for streaming will be disregarded.
No submission shall contain content or performance that has been broadcast or streamed, published or televised on television or as part of a recording or a motion picture film or television program and must not violate any laws, regulations or network standards and shall not promote any product or service.
Submission may not copy or otherwise plagiarize submission material from any source.
Selection will be based on how well the video communicates the key message in a creative and unique way and how well the video supports Allstate's reputation.
