Odd Encounters

tastyyellow
I updated this with a nice full-frontal beauty shot of the w810i at the end. I still stand by the music for now, courtesy of Ernesto Ornelas and his band, Free Lunch Line.

Update - I adjusted the sound levels. Way too high/loud before.

    • very funny! I am curious though, was the main character running up to what he thought was a pretty girl to take her picture? that sort of creeped me out a little.

    • Nice. I like the music. Your ad has a fun, happy-go-lucky (or happy-go-unlucky) feel to it. If you have a moment, please check out my latest pod, GLAMAZONIA, and let me know what you think.

    • not as tight as "Unscripted" but very creative. Looks like you made this first which means your production skills are going in the right direction.

    • This is hilarious! Really entertaining and really drives home the importance of having a cam-phone to capture the odd encounters we all have from time to time.

    • Sorta dark for a spot, ain't it? But great punchline, and, yeah, stick with that music. GL!

Side Note: Please check out my latest video: LLOYD KAUFMAN crosses that line. Thanks!

    • Good call, Imakeheads. I thought there was something missing. I'll work on squeezing in the model#.

Haha... the thought of trannies never even crossed my mind when I created this. I'd retake a picture, but that actor had recently shaved his head... lol

    • I like the concept. But are you possibly alienating part of your target by showing the disgusted face at the end? Transvestites, transexuals buy phones too. Do you think they might be a bit offended? A look of surprise and then a big flirty smile would be funnier.

    • Great concept, love the acting, especially when the guy falls. Also, good transitions to show what's happening (shemale takes pic, fade to white (flash), closer pic of phone to show detail with picture just taken (emotion), and then the rotation to show the phone as a whole. I noticed the guy had his headphones on, but I don't think it came across too well that the phone plays music (of course it looks like you focused in more on where it takes you from its camera feature). It would be kind of nice to know the model of the phone (it just shows the phone at the end with the tag). Great job. Red light, yellow light, green light, go!

    • Yes, very clever! I think anything that challenges our assumptions has great potential to be a successful ad. I like how we thought the 1st guy was out to get pictures, and then it turns out he who is being watched is also the spectator.

    • Where will it take me!? Wow.

Apparently to a marvelously voyeristic place where I'll be inclined to watch a man fall to his death and feel like takin a snapshot. How cute! Then be witness to a robbery and just walk by it and to top it off, experience awkard and unpleasant homoerotic moments with shemales that have the same phone that I have. That way you feel unique and turned on. Where else could you wanna go? That Miami ad school really has there proverbial excrement together.

    • Great idea, great execution. This commercial has no dialogue and yet speaks in all languages. Nice twist at the end. Originality comes through. Green light!

    • HAHAHA! I agree with whoever said you need a construction worker-style leer on your face when the "girl" walks by. A product shot at the end would be good too. Otherwise, this is a commercial I would want to watch during Family Guy! :)

    • Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm working on tweaking the ending so that it shows the entire phone. The music, unfortunately will have to stay until I can find something more suitable, and I'm going to stay away from Garageband until I can make something that doesn't sound 'Garageband-y'.

    • This is funny as hell, and it's just about perfect artistically. For tv, you might need to add some stuff (like maybe some voiceover to clarify the "odd encounters theme"). Also, just a tiny "oh yeah" leer on your face as you're chasing the "girl" at the end would give the last joke more punch. I like the music, but it would also be interesting to see it with different tracks.

    • nice shit! i like it yo! That guy on top of the pile of piled up men is hot! I'm not a big fan of the music either. The music is ok but doesn't do it justice! Otherwise... A+

    • Love the concept. Nice production values, but the music doesn't work for me. I'd also like to see a beauty shot of the product at the end - other than that - nice, just needs to be finished up.
