Time Capsule

Yesenia78
This spot is about a little boy who assembles elements of communication from 1985 and puts it in a time capsule. He returns 21 years later only to find the evolution of technology. Inspired by the movie "Back to the Future" and rembering what it was like to be a kid and wondering what the future would bring. The actual time capsule was created by Jesse Saum, www.empellrsteelworx.com

    • I really liked your work, and overall idea. The timing on the edit is good, i just think maybe the soundtrack could be a little less present. GL!,
Here's my AD, "New Year's Favorite", check it out, critiscism wanted!
      Good Track,

    • Very original and fresh idea, perfectly executed. It really establishes a bond with the product. Nicely done, as always. GL from me!
Since you appear to like animals (by your pic), go check out the pod I did about them. Thanks!

    • Nicely done I like it. Hopefully it does well. It captured the old and everything seperate then brought together as one through technology. Definately GL!!

    • i saw where it was going, but still really liked the concept and the execution. GREENLIGHT. my only comment is that i don't think the music needed to be so prevelant, it could have been really subtle to go with the slower pacing. nice work.

link my spot, i welcome comments.

    • hey yesenia, i like the spot a lot. It is a great idea, and i think scott did a nice job filming it
i agree with the comment about not needing the taking off the jacket but i understand the time constraints. overall a great piece of creative work

    • Not bad except that historically you may have a technological blunder. Although the DynaTac was first shown in 1983, and because the first integrated commercial cellular network was not in place until 1990 hence making the phone widely available, 1985 may seem a bit too early, unless you were of course in Japan or Europe or rich. Also CD's were also very avilable since 1981, the casette tape was already in the downslope in 1985. You may also refine the garageband track a bit.

    • Good concept, nicely shot. Despite what you say about its intended venue, I think it could still be a bit tighter. You could open with the kid starting to put items into the capsule -- all that action with his removing his jacket and dumping the stuff from his backpack doesn't add anything. But the spot holds together whatever, so I'm GLing it.

Shameless Plug: Please have a look at my latest video, LLOYD KAUFMAN crosses that line. Thanks!

    • Thanks for the feed back, but keep in mind that I wrote this spot as a :60 spot made for cinema. My goal was to make it feel like a short film. This spot was not intended for :30 seconds, so if I try to remove anything from it will not be the same commercial. The boy putting the items into this time capusle is an integral part to this piece. Unfortunately, due to bad compression (video egg), the spot looses some of it's face value. I hope people can see past that.

      Thanks,
      Yesenia

    • I like this. You certainly have a knack for advertisements.

I think this would have a much great chance of airing if you could get it down to 30 seconds... I'd even try to get it to 15 seconds.

Maybe you could speed up portions of the video and keep key portions at regular speed. This would keep the viewer aware of what’s happening and still maintain a sense of continuity, but shave time off the over all runtime.

    • Great spot. Original concept. It has a cinematic quality to it and it is very universal. The music is also very nice. I like the transition to the future. I hope to see it on the big screen. Good luck!
