    • Its funny I agree with Dan I am not sure about the air kayaking, and I think if you shortened it a tich it would be more effective I started reading the comments at about 3 mins. I did like it though.

    • As an avid kayaker in the Michigan area, I thought the piece was interesting in an off- the- wall almost Monty- Python type sketch piece.

    • The shooting was great, crisp and clear. Would enjoy seeing it in reverse where the long shot (that looks like water) come first and then the kayak approaching and approackhing until you get close and we see you are in the sand and then to the car and drive home. At least you didn't get lost out there!! Good job! makes me want to steal the idea and kayak from the Gulf through downtown Sarasota.

    • Having some music and trimming a little bit of the voiceover can enhance the video and showing falling out of the kayak may be funny too. Great cinematography.

    • This was funny, I think the idea and execution were perfecet. You played it straight all the way through, and that was the funniest part. I think people just don't get this! But, Current may not be the best venue for it...gl

    • Greg,

I agree with Dan. Great photography, Quixotic concept, but too much dead air and not enough irony.

Did you know that a year (or two) ago, when there was a record rainfall, there were lakes in Death Valley at a place called Badwater, and people went out and kayaked. If you'd like to see some great photos, try this link

A funny scenario might be expecting a lake and not finding it. Pardon the pun, but it could be a form of "dry humor"!

      Good luck.

    • Man, I'm torn. The concept is good, the photography is beautiful, the jump-cuts are interesting (although there are maybe too many of them), but the paddling in air doesn't complement the rest of the piece. If this was shot on film, you could've worked some Svankmajer-like animation to show the paddles digging into the earth and the canoe dragging along (complete with a distressing, metal-scraping-on-rock sound). You might even be able to fake something like that on video with the right framing and cutting (and I get the sense you could handle that). It's a sharp send-up that needs a bit of techical finesse to be fully successful.
