Old to Young

An old man puts L'Oreal Men's Expert Hydra-Energetic shaving cream on his face and when he goes to wash it off he brings his face up to be amazed by how younger he looks.

    • Very good! I only have one question? Did you use Windows Movie Maker to Edit and Make you Ad?
That reason I asked, was because instead of using the fade into transition, try overlapping the end of the first clip with the beginning of the young guy. Don't know if that will work, but just maybe see how it does. Also, you could just try no transition at all and jump straight to the second clip with the young man. Otherwise, I think it's great. Actually, I think it is fine how it is, just wondering how it would play and look the way that I suggested. GL here!

    • You get my GL, I laughed. Granted keeping some reality in may be important, I recently saw a few ads on TV that included a cat running through a wall to get food and a dancing broom...I don't think that happens in real life either so I'm okay with this.

      GL

Please take a moment to check out my latest POD, BIG MEDIA fails again and feel free to give it a GL if you like it.

      Thanks.

    • I guess this is a way to get people to watch some advertising... I use soap just plain bar soap...

audio: water running is distracting- use a lower cleaner water sound - add close up on old man shot .
Good concept- for learning the art -but in advertising there should some truth... This product would not do that in real life so this could be misleading - keeping it real is very important in selling a products. good job

    • this is a cool concept. And...... I don't know what it is, but that first shot looks simply amazing. Maybe its the outstanding set, acting, framing and lighting.

But it just seems a little "fluffy" with not enough "umph" or information.
Since you asked for suggestions, here are my 2 cents (please take them with a grain of salt).

NO dissolve! That kills the reveal. Alternatively, you could keep the camera static as the actor bends out of frame, then cut, and reveal the younger actor entering the frame. OR even better, splash the camera/mirror with water as he washes off the shaving cream. Then he could wipe it clean to reveal the younger actor. Either way, I agree with the others that you need some CUs of the actors to help the reveal. If you cant reshoot then I suggest adding VO or some other layer of information (maybe graphical). Just think about it, an older man's life vs. a young man's life can lead to LOTS of funny contradictions. And lastly, the text at the end needs to be incorporated SOMEHOW within the video. Because there is more text than video. And its a commercial which NEEDS to grab peoples attention who might be in the other room cooking dinner. Mmmmmm dinner.

      It's a great ad!
      Keep it up.

    • I love the concept! Very funny!
In my very humble opinion, the age difference was just perfect. We wouldn't want to induce an "oh come on!!" reaction, right?
Perhaps the Text part could have been integrated (or replaced) with some more footage of the younger version, loving this product and the way he looks. This is about vanity afterall. Your models (actors) look great, I'd say show them off a little bit. Let's all wonna be like that younger version :)
Thanks a lot for your GL on my VCam!

    • I like the concept a lot. But I agree with a previous comment that the reveal was too subtle. Maybe there could have been more punch with the music...maybe the contrasts could have been greater (an older old guy and a younger young guy). But conceptually very creative. GL.

    • Kewl but I agree you can't really see how old the guy is in the first shot becasue the resolution is not good enough on the small screen. You should redo it with tighter shots and maybe even more exxagerated makeup. n Lets see how that works.

    • I really do like the concept, but I didn't find the guys reaction to his new face realistic. "Wow?" Kind of killed it for me, but it was clever. It's better than 90% of the stuff on here, so GL.

    • This is great I would love to see this on tv, the fact that the old guy went from old to young is great. This is a great commercial for L'Oreal. I would definitely buy it for my husband if it made him young lol.
