Wow, Dean. You've got another great story that left me feeling intrigued. I am glad that you continue to contribute so much here!
I like the introduction to your pod, it tells just enough to keep the viewer wondering.

This pod is AWESOME! You've given queer folks the opportunity to celebrate themselves as they see themselves. I think trans people occupy the most sacred space in human consciousness. Well done!

An important piece...issues of social equality aren't getting a lot of press, and although I think this may turn off a lot of closed minded people, that's the point, right?

There's a surge of happiness and freedom at the march that is palpable. I've never really understood what transgendered means, although what I gather from this video is that it is when a person has both genitalia? Perhaps the point of the film is that no definition of gender is necessary. We all exist as we are.
This is what I would deem a celebration piece. It is one dimensional. I've always been fascinated by the moments after celebrations. The trash, the emptyness. Next time you film a celebration, hold the camera a bit longer. It may reveal another dimension.
Great work. Green Light.

Wow, I found this really eye-opening, I mean, I've met drag queens at the parades, but I've never looked at gender like that, not that I had been closed-minded, I just never really viewed it that way.

Dean simply knows how to tell a story in a compellig way. The glbt community desserves to have their story in the mainstream on a daily basis.
The good news is that most people under 30 have already made up their minds that these people are no longer going to be mistreated. It is my generation that will always fear any kind of non-hetero sex. And they will eventually die out. Too bad that new ideas have to develop so slowly.

It's important that people see this, because everyone deserves respect and equal rights without fear of being themselves. I think we, as Americans, are too afraid of anything different. Without watching a POD like this many of us would never think about this subject much.
Making people think and putting them in someone else's shoes, even if for only 4:54, is what makes Current TV stand out to me. If we can't develop better empathy for one another we'll never be able to tear down all these walls were building, let alone stop building more.
It's frightening to me that there was an "all white tree" at a school in Jena LA, in 2007, in America. How many more "all white" things are there in America? One is one too many!
What happened to Gwen is not that much different. I hope we can figure out a way to accept those with different colored skin NOW, and that trans gender people don't have to struggle so long.
Well, at least we can start by watching this POD, thank you.

While we hear about gays and lesbians in the mainstream media at a near-constant, we hear next to nothing about the trans-community. They contribute to day-to-day living as everyone. This pod can be really effective in raising the positive awreness this community so desperately needs. Good job!
