The terrible pressure of constant deadlines cruelly takes its terrifying toll on the youthful skin of a worn-out artist. The young man can only be saved by L'Oreal Men's Expert Hydra-Energetic SPF15 Lotion!

    • beautifully executed idea. but I always leave some ideas of my own, like more sound fx & foley! you got the pencil. but no sound when he scratches his, head screams in fright, or goes whew at the end. when he rubs on the loreal, when the black plague recedes etc.
I used to work at a recording studio, so i think about this stuff.

    • Wha?
      Too dark for TV?!
The number one primetime show franchise in America features graphic autopsy footage. The UFC features truly horrific violence and gets huge ratings with men 18-45 (L’Oreal Men’s main marketing demographic, BTW). How the heck is this charming homage to German Expressionism too scary for TV!

    • holy monkeys this is good. I've never seen a better commercial. If L'Oreal doesn't pick it, I personally will picket their booth in Nordstroms.

    • It took me more than one viewing to realize that the sketch was the same artist drawn as an older man; this lends to it's re-watchability. Nicely polished - the production qualities added to the music track really emphasize the content/intent.

    • That was a very cool piece. I really enjoyed the special effects. GL and I hope that it makes it on TV.

I did think that the audio was a little overdone and you might want to consider bumping your levels down a bit. The sound of the pencil is over the top and the climaxing music seems a touch high. (But we all know that they make commercials louder than the rest of TV anyway right!)

Also, take a look at my Pod when you have a chance. I would love to get your feedback. Thanks.

    • Totally cool, one of the best of these that I have seen. I love pic of the old guy and the hand turning into a sketch. GREENLIGHT!

    • You never know what Loreal will and won't like. Because this product is for men, I'm going to guess that edgier is better. Regardless it's a really well done piece.

    • Hmmm. I'm not sure about how many aspects of the scoring work. If that is the case (that the scores reset), I feel sorry for the kid in our category who's spent countless hours GL'ing every pod, promo and vcam that posts. Besides those in his own category of course. Have you noticed this dynamo? He should run for office! The other day he actually GLit a pod uploaded without audio! "Wow" indeed.
I always give people the benefit of the doubt though. He could've sustained some hearing loss from the faucet in his VCAM. That thing sounds like Niagra.

    • Jenn, I'm surprised your VCAM isn't rising faster. I understand peoples' thoughts on L'Oreal (believe me, mine involves stripper dust) but I just try to think of a target audience. Considering our market I think horror films and gentlemen's clubs might not be a bad fit. L'Oreal can run yours on the Sci-Fi channel, and bury mine on Spike.

Anyway, as an original supporter, I hope that people rally to your efforts. In my (rarely humble) opinion it is vastly superior to the majority of the VCAMS I've seen in any category.

Keep me posted on your next pod. Good Luck.

    • wow, is it really the consensus the L'Oreal would not like this? interesting. i mean, i thought it was clear that the lotion was saving this man from the villian...hmmm. i'm surprised a little that the reaction has been so strong about the dark material. thanks for the feedback everyone, i do appreciate it very much!

    • GL! Unfortunately I have to agree that it is probably not what L'Oreal is going to want... But the video was awesome! My only critical comment on the piece itself is that I wish the time-lapse portions were a little smoother, difficult I know, but if accomplished, it would really push the overall quality of the piece. Great concept, loved the shocking eye opening moment synched up with the music... You could make a horror movie out of this...

Give our XM VCAM a look if you get a chance...
      Thanks!

    • Wow. Great production quality. Great drawing as well. It might not penetrate such a pleasing taste to the viewer though. Perhaps if the beauty of loreal held more time on screen....

    • Thank you for the well-thought and nicely put feedback. I really love it when producers take the time to really write a critique. However, I disagree with the fundamental core of your argument. :) It's very removed from reality, unless drawings come to life and attack all of us. The subject is skin care, and our actor's skin is attacked but then saved by the skin-care product. Lastly, fear is the motivator behind most advertising and media. No offense meant in this reply- just wanted to give my opinion. :)

    • Good to see a really unique approach in this VCAM category. Visually very interesting and well executed.

Strategy-wise, I feel like the tone is wrong given the product. Sinister sells if the payoff is light or if the sinisterness is a million miles away from reality. Because you changed the state of his skin... and this is about skin-care... I feel like it's a little too close to home. And you ramp that 'fear' to 10. Still interesting to watch.

Kudos to the drawer... he's got talent!!

    • Brilliant concept! So well executed and shot. Your editing/effects is really solid all around.
I continue to appreciate your feedback on my pods so if you have a chance and wouldn't mind checking out my new one -- "Acting on a Dream" -- I would really appreciate it. It's about a hollywood actor who directs his first independent film.
many thanks and GL from me.

I notice the character is married. Hm. Is that how he happens to have the product in his cabinet?

Thank you! I give credit toDavid Norfleet for the scary soundtrack. I imagine L'Oreal may want this VCAM in October for the Halloween ads.

    • Daniel Heard is the artist, animator, and actor in this commercial. He is also the collaborator on the entire production, so he gets 50% of all its earnings. So, feed a starving artist, won't ya? :)
