The younger generation has no reference or experience standing up for their rights. They are finally seeing what privatization and corporations are really all about - profit at the expense of human needs. This must be a huge wake up call to them - 'we're working class folks just like the janitors, wait staff, and car wash workers' - welcome to the real world faced by billions of disenfranchised people all across the globe.
MOST IMPORTANT - Look around and ask yourselves how many of the Democratic presidential candidates are supporting you???? WHERE'S HILLORY, OBAMA, or Edwards??? I don't think you'll see them support union picket lines and working people fighting for their rights. The corporations are greedy. Media consolidation is a huge problem in America today.
We need a strong movement to defend working class people. Once the strike is over and you've settled back into your comfortable 'middle class' lives, don't forget
DON'T FORGET THIS VALUABLE LESSON!
Working people need to stick together - honor other union picket lines and support movements to make unions more democratic and responsive to the membership. - 4 years ago
