The Real Ting

The Real Ting profiles the Chinese tattoo artis Zhuo Dan Ting, who is as well known for her talent as a tattoo artist as for her unique look and style. Through her experiences we can see the development, and influences driving China to be an more open minded society. Ting is an example of self expression at it's loudest.

    • I agree with many of PatrickHJohnson's comments. Some other perspectives on your subject's work would make this more than a straight forward profile, and add some depth to the piece.

Also, would be interesting to hear if and how has tattooing been taboo in China in years past?

Does the rising popularity corelate in some way with Western influence? Or is tattooing really an East Asian art that's been around before the West picked it up? I just don't know, but would love to learn.

Overall though, awesome subject. and Great work.

      GL from me.

    • Solid profile. Zhuo Dan Ting is a great subject.

I would have liked to have seen a few more viewpoints/perspectives. For instance, she mentions that people travel from all over the world to get tattooed by her. I would have been interested to hear why those people seek her out specifically.

Also, for the layperson who doesn't know much about the world of tattoos, it might have been helpful for another viewpoint to describe/analyze her work. She describes her tattoo work/style as "different and original" from all the norm, but I didn't really understand how or why its different and original. It might have been useful to have that explained.

But overall, I enjoyed it. GL
