Valerie Gotay is a mother of two young children, Isa and Breanna. Valerie has made it on the US Judo Olympic team in the past, but through personal tragedy never fought in a match. Now is Valerie's last shot at an Olympic medal! Will the strenght of the Gotay family help her to overcome the struggles of competing against so many younger Judo competitors. Valerie Gotay retained her #1 ranking and the top spot on the US Judo Pan Am team by going undefeated at the US Nationals tournament held at the George R. Brown convention center in Houston, Texas on Saturday, April 22, 2006. Valerie says her biggest opponent will be dealing with her aging body. Beijing, China is the site of the 2008 Olympics where she hopes to fulfill her lifelong goal of an Olympic medal in Judo.
