Vietnam Funeral Crashers

As a young woman approaching 30, I'm fortunate to have only been to one family funeral in my life. Still, this isn't protection from experiencing the deep pain of real loss. While in Vietnam and recovering from my own internalized grief… there was a more external reaction to death happening right outside my home – literally, in the streets of Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City. We do not intend to be disrespectful by titling this story "Funeral Crashers," but that is essentially what we did to follow this process of mourning. We watched & followed, unofficially invited into this communal, human journey. When possible, please watch, and let me know what you think… does it drag… is it too sentimental? ALL constructive feedback is appreciated.

    • This is an interesting pod in subject matter. All that it needs is a little cleaning up technically. All of the interviews were informative and interesting and well sequenced. However, there were times that the sound from the b-roll could've been played softly under the interview sound. Also, the music was slightly overpowering when the images speak so well for themselves. All of the video footage in this is extremely interesting and different. It just needs some cleaning up in the sound department, I think.

    • Loved the POD and seeing the different cultures and the diversity of our world, but I think it's too long, maybe think about splitting it into two different parts.
      The most important thing was I learned something and that's what Current TV is all about.

    • The diversity of rites and rituals of death are really interesting. So much so that many artists are really pushing the limits of public opinion to explore the theme.
