    • The donut thing was technically excellent, but you're depicting the Cambodian community as lovers of styrofoam cups. Then in your bee keeper short the guy won't ask his neighbors for permission to keep bees (in the city!) because, in his own words, "I don't speak Chinese". Could you possibly put together a short that depicts Asian-Americans as people that have rights and integrity (and have some ability to speak English)? That would be great! Because your current depiction of Asian-Americans is kind of irresponsible.

    • Being a son of donut shop owners for 14 years, I don't think this is a totally accurate depiction of donut shops, and a little condescending at times. The message of the video maker is unclear. Is he trying to say that donut shops should be removed because they are a reminder of the immigrant struggles? Is it bad to make money without knowing how to speak english?

      You're reaching with this.

I'm kinda bummed that precipitate promotes this video. I'm a major advocate of the music, but dunno what to think right now.

    • what a great pod. you made a non-story into something engaging and funny. the sound, dead-on VO and smart edits work to make a free jazz ode to donut life.

    • I don't eat the little buggers anymore so, I'll miss those midnight runs...um...not the right word...excursions to that place just down the street that never closed and provided shelter for the lunar looneys.
      Good pod.

    • This Pod is trying to be humorous, but it's racist, stereotyping, and it's slandering sustainable lifestyles.

Rich people eat vegan pastries? WTF? I'm not rich and that's why I'm vegan. It's cheaper. Meat is for the elite. That's why America is full of it, the middle class in America (if there is still one left), counts as the upper class in most other countries.

How is this Pod number 1? It's terrible.

    • Very, very funny. I can identify with the lure of the donut and the guilt afterwards. The sugar rush, an addition that is accepted by society at all times of the day and night. Good job!

    • i always wondered why there is a hole in the middle of a donut... now i know. And now i realize that i didn't want to know! haha

So, if donuts = the american dream
      and
donuts = casual sex and drugs
      does
the american dream = casual sex and drugs?

      Sounds about right.
      But I'm not a philosopher...

Loved this flick - made me think :o)

    • I live across from All Star Donuts in SoMa. If they weren't there I honestly think some of my roommates would have starved to death. Thank you All Star.

    • Wow, the donut shops in California look really seedy. I work in one in a small town in Minnesota and it's like another world. I'm not sure whether to vote this up or down. While I'm excited to see a pod about donuts, considering my line of work, I feel like you're too full of pathos regarding fried dough. Just enjoy it--you're a skinny guy. I'll vote this up in the hopes that you can have a guilt-free donut tomorrow.
