Marijuana Mash-Up

I've had enough with the anti-marijuana propoganda, the war on drugs, doctors pushing hard drugs on sick patients instead of prescribing marijuana, government lies and fear instilling and mis-information.
People need to wake up, think outside the box and think independently and for themselves.

    • Why do we just let US citizen buy a tax stamp to grow it for your own uses.
that would stop all the middle men out and then there just your fresh crop.
No war lords or cartels just your garden.
      but that to easy.

    • Marijuana is not "completely harmless." The UK government is struggling to cope with a large increase in cases of cannabis-induced schizophrenia. The drug ruins peoples lives, it tears apart families and it is the cause of criminal activity.

When you smoke a joint, think how many people have been exploited for you to buy that pot - first off, unless it's your homegrown, it will have been imported from abroad, often illegally. Then drug dealers have bought it, split it up then sold it on for profit, then drug runners are involved distributing it throughout your area, then you eventually buy it off someone who may then get convicted for criminal activity. Drugs are not good for society, I don't care what anyone says - we can't change the world for the better if we are stoned. It's only when we are completely sober that we can make rational decisions and take action.

    • The pod has art. Whoever shot this and added this all up to a pod has got a clever way of presenting information and delivering it. I was pulled into watching this pod for the ability and the arrangement of image and visual that kept me watching. This is impressive. The ability to keep one's attention and keep one looking for more of the story has got the ability to tell the story! Well done for telling the story and delivering information with art and style and some funky angles and spots. I am impressed with the delivery.

    • Pharmaceutical companies and the moral "authority" are too afraid if they legalize it, then people would just grow it themselves and take their money and prescriptive dependence back...which would be AWESOME.

    • While I totally agree with you, as a chronic pain suffer, that if caught with Marijuana in my state of Pennsylvania it would be straight to prison. BUT, with all due respect, if you are going to be a activist for the cause your going to have to do a bit more real research on the subject AND not look like a kid that's just hawking to get a couple of buds without getting in trouble. like perhaps not wearing your hat sideways and maybe cleaning up your sideburns a bit and perhaps a better choice of clothing. Remember, your trying to convince people to change laws and that's not easy even though this is the United States-about 1/3 of the 50 states have that legal right to marijuana. there's nothing united about that!!!

    • Thank God we have people like you trying to bring the issue back out in to the mainstream.

Prohibition didn't work in the 1920's it sure as hell isn't working now

    • Good to know there are other people passionate about this issue on Current.
I like the rawness of this pod it doesn't seem as artificial as some of the others I've come across.

Cannabis is being used by 144 million people worldwide.
It time for an update to the outdated & oppressive Cannabis laws that asshats like Anslinger started.

    • Nice comment Shawnc2k. I think that the 1% of history fact is just to simplify instead of saying 0.71% of history and is accurate enough for this short video.

I agree with everything else you say, some of the facts are not entirely verified and if your video is not 100% accurate then it unfortunately will not be taken seriously.

I personally think to improve the video you just need to add some more information on some of the most helpful uses of hemp (i.e. paper, rope, etc.) and it may solidify the point dramatically.

There are millions and probably billions of dollars to be made from cultivating cannabis and it is only a matter of time that the majority of the population in informed to this and demands that such a useful product be legalized.

    • While some valid points are made about the danger of alcohol and tobacco, some of the statements are not accurate which dilutes the intent of the piece.

The Declaration of Independence was NOT written on paper made of hemp but is on parchment which is made of animal skin. While Jefferson's draft of the declaration of independence was written on paper that was planted based, analysis has determined that the paper is Dutch in origin and while there was hemp produced at that time in Holland, most paper was made of linen which is made from flax as hemp was a coarser fiber.

A statement was made that stated that hemp is the oldest cultivated plant but that marijuna has been illegal only 1 percent of that time...wrong math...hemp fabric has been found in China that is over 10,000 years old. One percent of 10,000 is 100. Marijuana has not been illegal for 100 years.

Marijuana was made illegal in the United States in September of 1937. Tha means it has only been for 71 years and in some cases it is still legal for medicinal use. In most of the other countries of the world Marijuana and hemp are not illegal.

If you do not have verified facts, your video will not be taken seriously. The authors intent is good but must stand up to scrutiny otherwise people will reject it.

I am not an advocate for or against the use of Marijuana as I do not take drugs of any kind but understand the uses of hemp that are beneficial and are being ignored.

    • Good pod with good information.

And just to clarify Darkhorsejim's comment, marijuana is up for decriminalization in Massachusetts this November, making possesion under one ounce more like a speeding ticket with no criminal record being created as a result.

    • We've got a local store that sells nothing but products made from hemp. Legalization of the sweet leaf is finally an election referendum question, thanks to the tireless efforts of Congressman Barney Frank, that will appear on the Massachusetts ballot in November, when the voters will finally have a chance to have their silenced voices heard after years of persecution & prosecution.
