Sunday 20 June 2010: Following threats of protest by the Enlglish Defence League (EDL) thousands of protestros and local residents marched through Tower Hamlets in east london to oppose the far right street army and all other forms of fascism.
The day ended in trouble when police began arresting local men near Whitechapel mosque. The already tense situation, due to fears the EDL were planning attacks on the mosque, ended in TSG riot police baton-charges on the local youth. In the end only one man was arrested.
