Bootlegged Booze: YouGov survey results

The sale of counterfeit alcohol is on the rise across the UK, it's now estimated that up to a quarter of licensed premises in some parts of the UK are involved in the sale and distribution of bootlegged booze.
To find out how much people know about bootlegged booze Current commissioned a YouGov poll. Here are the key results:
- 61% of all those asked were not aware that illegals spirits is on sale in shops, pubs, clubs and bars.
- 28% say they are likely to buy spirits without a recognisable brand name, that jumps up to 37% amongst 18-24 year olds.
- The people in the Midlands are most aware (44%) that bootlegged booze is on sale in their area, in Scotland only 27% are aware that bootlegged booze is on sale.
- 6% of people think they have been served bootlegged booze at licensed premises, this jumps to 14% in the 18-24 age group. 16% of all people asked are unsure if they have been served illegal alcohol.
