JENNIFER JO UTZ has been covering the Iraqi refugee crisis for nearly two years. In 2007, she made four trips to the Middle East to cover the story. Her work has appeared on France 24, Democracy Now!, Current TV, and ABC World News Tonight.

From 2005 to 2007, she was a Producer at Democracy Now! -– an independent daily radio and television news broadcast hosted by the award-winning journalist Amy Goodman.

Jennifer recently co-produced and filmed a feature-length documentary about the Jewish-American academic Norman Finkelstein. The project included travel to Canada, Japan, and Lebanon, where she field-produced and filmed in Palestinian refugee camps in Chatila and Tripoli, as well as throughout Beirut and Southern Lebanon.

In 2004, she lived in Gujarat, India, where she taught members of a women's empowerment organization how to produce outreach videos designed to educate a non-literate audience comprised of Dalit (Untouchable), Tribal, and Muslim populations.

Prior to that, Jennifer edited a documentary about the hardships of life for students in Zimbabwe, comprised of footage that was smuggled out of the country.

In 2003, she traveled around the world by ship, where she produced and edited a feature-length documentary about the academic program “Semester at Sea”. The film covered issues such as the townships of South Africa, life in Fidel Castro’s Cuba, and the Movement for Landless People in Bahia, Brazil.
