In 2003, my parents, both journalists, were offered a grant to teach at a Peruvian university. Soon after, our family moved to Lima, where I ended up graduating from high school. My time out of the country, though brief, has had a great influence on my life. It was my first glimpse of how big and diverse the world is beyond our borders.
