Scene 1Scene submitted by NBargielScene submitted on March 25, 2011 Who are the characters in the Conglomerate?
Scene 2Scene submitted by 3lanScene submitted on March 26, 2011 Karma = deeds.
The concept then involves cause and effect including all the different interconnections that can be made.
In one way of thinking, all actions result in the "will of God" that is, in essence, Elohim or the mighty ones.
Since Buddhism doesn't ascribe any god or gods to be in control, the "larger conglomerate" could be the forces of nature and general direction of the world.
Scene 3Scene submitted by the1truesushiboyScene submitted on March 26, 2011 The conglomerate is a seemingly infinite organization with branches embodying any concept or philosophy imagined, guiding humanity throughout existence in all its endeavors. Muses influenced culture; gods of war shaped civilizations... But in the conglomeration itself, there doesn't seem to be a top of the ladder.
Scene 4Scene submitted by the1truesushiboyScene submitted on March 26, 2011 Our story opens on a "new recruit"; a young man, Chaz, interviewing for a job he hasn't heard any specific details about.
Scene 5Scene submitted by the1truesushiboyScene submitted on March 26, 2011 The interview goes well, although he becomes even more curious about what the job will entail, because the questions he had been asked were rather unusual... oddly philosophical.
Scene 6Scene submitted by the1truesushiboyScene submitted on March 26, 2011 Back at home he talks to his girlfriend about the interview and how unusual the whole experience was.
Scene 7Scene submitted by the1truesushiboyScene submitted on March 26, 2011 He hears a knock at the door. When he answers it, there is a man only slightly younger looking than him, wearing a rather casual, sleek, black outfit with a prominent skull motif, along with a few other symbols, and a hooded denim jacket.
Scene 8Scene submitted by the1truesushiboyScene submitted on March 26, 2011 The man says with a sly grin "Good news; you've got the job and I'm your new boss. Lucky you. Now let's get you ready for your first day of work."
Stunned, Chaz stummbles on his words and manages to ask "Who are you?" to which the man replies "Death." quite nonchalantly, as he juggles a hand held scythe, that appeared, seemingly out of nowhere, evocative of the title he claims.
Scene 9Scene submitted by the1truesushiboyScene submitted on March 26, 2011 Afraid and befuddled, a resounding "WHAT!?" is all Chaz is able to think to say before the hooded man continues "but not the first... and not the last. Who knows, you may even end up with my job some day." It's quite evident at this point that "Death" enjoys tormenting this man, as he's clearly holding back laughter and the other looks worried for his sanity, although trying hard to hold it all in.
Scene 10Scene submitted by the1truesushiboyScene submitted on March 26, 2011 "Alright, enough fun. Let's go." the figure in black says. And before he knew it, our protagonist had found himself swallowed in black fire and deposited in an office building bustling with business and death, himself bristling with bravado. Our main character, having been chosen for the job, isn't a complete idiot either and has already adapted to the absurdity of the situation, asking "Okay, Death, so what am I supposed to do then?", to which death replies "Whatever we tell you to. And call me Kieran."
(Side note- I chose the name Chaz because it comes from Charles, meaning "free man" and Kieran, meaning "dark")
Scene 11Scene submitted by the1truesushiboyScene submitted on March 27, 2011 "Now then!" Kieran continues with a smile "Let's get you introduced so we can set you up in your new office and get to work." as he rushes Chaz toward a hallway. "Wait. You're giving me an office?" asks Chaz. "Don't worry, you'll hardly ever be in it." says Kieren. "What IS this job, anyway?" asks Chaz, more to himself than to Kieran as they step into the hallway and the lobby area they were just in vanishes, leaving just an endless hallway.
Scene 12Scene submitted by the1truesushiboyScene submitted on March 27, 2011 "Oh, a little bit of everything, really. You'll be working directly under me and my associates, but mostly just with me." says Kieran as he stops for a bit. "Okay, but what will I be doing? What are my responsibilities?" Chaz asks firmly, quickly brushing off the odd spacial issues, looking for answers. "Look..." Kieran says with a sigh "I know this must all be very surreal, but they told me to wait before I explained anything... And we need you, so if you can hold up on the questions for a bit, we'll get to it eventually."
Scene 13Scene submitted by the1truesushiboyScene submitted on March 27, 2011 "Kieran!" a voices calls from down the hall. Chaz looks over to see who it was while Kieran just slowly turns with an expression that says he already knows who it is. A light golden blonde man in 1920s fashion, almost all white, leaning in a doorway walks over and asks "Is he the new guy?"
Scene 14Scene submitted by the1truesushiboyScene submitted on March 27, 2011 "Yes. This is Chaz." Kieran says "Chaz, this is-" as he's cut of when Chaz interrupts "Let me guess... You're supposed to be life then?" "Oh, so you told him already?" says the man in white. "No, he just asked who I was." is Kieran's reply. "And of course you had to show off... You know you were supposed to wait." And they get into a pointless argument, though it's short lived. During the argument the personalities of Life and Death are laid out by exaggeration from the other's point of view.
Scene 15Scene submitted by the1truesushiboyScene submitted on March 27, 2011 Kieran is a laid back, fun loving, sarcastic comedian, and has little respect for the rules, but he is, by far, one of the best deaths there has ever been. He has only a few friends, but those who are his friend are close. Life is extremely active, socially, but much less expressive than his counterpart, having few "close" friends. He isn't one to question his higher ups, but isn't a complete zombie, nor lacking personality. Generally, though, Life is uch more serious.
Scene 16Scene submitted by the1truesushiboyScene submitted on March 27, 2011 After the argument ends, Life suggests they simply head into the meeting and tersely admits that he is life and says that his name is Meyer. The meeting room is surprisingly empty, with just a few people sitting at a large table. Meyer tells Chaz to just stand there and things will be under way. Meyer and Kieran take their seats, but Kieran props himself up and leans back, which gets him a few negative looks. "Are the others not coming?" asks Meyer. "Everybody who's going to show up is already here." begins a new figure "Now Chaz..." as he turns to face our protagonist "We're very glad you interviewed for this position..."
P.S.
Meyer means "Bright one."
