about vanguard

Vanguard is Current's groundbreaking original journalism team. Our goal is to be anticipatory, not reactionary, in reporting on the crucial issues of our time.

We want to look at where events are heading, not simply where they stand today. We want to provide real value for our viewers so that they can better understand what's going on in our world and why.

Whether it's halfway around the planet, or on the next block, the Vanguard team goes anywhere necessary to report on stories the mainstream media are just flat out missing.

The impact of the largest mass migration of people in human history; the rise of non-state actors on the global stage; the power of technology to spread freedom... and hate; waning U.S. power; a rising China and Russia; the sustainability of our planet. These are the kinds of stories we are investigating as we strive to always be in the vanguard.

While other networks are cutting back on their international and investigative journalism efforts, we're doing the opposite. We're pushing the envelope and treading new ground. In the past three years alone, Vanguard correspondents have reported from across the U.S. and from more than four-dozen countries.

During this time when more and more people are turning away from traditional news outlets, Vanguard is stepping in to fill that void and offer a relevant alternative. This is journalism as adventure - exploring global issues and themes with a guerrilla-style approach, getting the facts on the ground and delivering them from authentic and relevant perspectives.

While every Vanguard report promises to be a wild adventure, at its core, Vanguard is honest, old-school, boots-on-the ground reporting.

New episodes of Vanguard's weekly show air every Wednesday at 10pm ET on Current TV. Vanguard investigations can also be viewed on the Vanguard Webpage along with behind-the-scene extras, the Vanguard Twitter feed and more.
