Cancer rise and sperm quality fall 'due to chemicals'

Sperm quality significantly deteriorated and testicular cancers increased over recent years, a Finnish study says. The research suggests environmental reasons, particularly exposure to industrial chemicals, may be behind both trends.
A UK expert said chemicals may affect the development of male babies.
Finnish men were studied as they have previously been shown to have some of the highest sperm counts in the world. The researchers looked at three groups of men who reached the age 19 between 1998 and 2006. Men who were born in the late 1980s had lower sperm counts than those who were born in the beginning of the decade.

    • Sensitization to inorganic mercury (as from dental amalgam) could be a risk factor for infertility. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16136024
RESULTS: More than 50% of patients were reacting to mercury, iron, aluminium and silver as mean by lymphocyte reactivity. When compared the lymphocyte reaction in patients with and without mercury allergy we found that the lymphocytes of patients with mercury intolerance produced less gamma interferon and more antisperm antibodies in supernatants after mercury stimulation of their lymphocytes.

    • Back in the early 1990's I read " A handmaids tale " . It haunts me to this day , because it was in sync with the darker parts of human nature and where we are headed . I really hope not , but , it is possible . We must find our collective sanity .
