The group, which boasts a membership of 3,346,700 on its website, recently sent out an email blast marketing a new documentary, "They're Coming to Your Town," about how they say a small group of gay activists took over the city council in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and began imposing "their homosexual agenda on that community."
The actual email blast can be found at http://www.goodasyou.org/AFAtownblast.png and goes on to suggest the 28 minute DVD (which sells for $14.95 on the AFA site) is "perfect for viewing during Sunday School."

We need to get people thinking about how the concepts of god and religion are not mutually exclusive with sexuality and gender. Through out human history the diversity in both sexuality and religious concepts in general have similar proving grounds. Our misconceptions about faith, religion and god come from the same places we get fear of sexuality and gender from. Break down those barriers and realise that god/religion is about love for all not a select few based on politically motivated interpretations of sun/the unknown power worship and quotes from stories passed through generations of humans all with their own agendas. Time, patients, communication and education will get us all through it.

this reminds me of a quote:
"Men feared witches and burnt women"Thats how "these people" operate. The way to "defeat" them is to use rationality and compassion. The first thing we have to understand, I feel, is that yes this is a doctrine of hate and people are systematically trying to teach children to hate and fear normal people (gays in this case).
Lucky everyone information is free and pervasive, and getting to be more so. As long as rational thought and discourse remain on the rise this kind of reactionary thought will decline.
In my opinion this is nothing more than someone's brilliant idea to make money. At the top of all these religious "trees" I don't think those people really believe what they preach, and that will be the biggest downfall for these hideous ideas.

Just like the War on Terror, the fundies NEED someone to evoke fear and dread. Hate is borne of fear and they have used it for centuries. It's only been a few of centuries since they were burning people at the stake and using dunking stools.
Witches were the threat then. I have seen fundies who rant against TV programs as innocent as the 1970's programs "Bewitched" and "Fantasy Island" but I never remember a single protest by liberals or anybody else when "Highway to Heaven" was a series.
Listen to me, Harry Potter! Get thee back foul spirit!
May George Bush bless you and keep you and cause his face to shine upon you and give you peace. Amen and Amen and Shondala Hondala Fondala Rhondala

As much as I think this is over the top, I ask you all how do we stop these kind of people spreading their ridiculous lies about the LGBT community?! They won't listen to reason and they have absurd amounts of money to continue to spend on a horrible message.
So, where do we start? How do we end it?
My solution: Acceptance.
