Ybor City, FL - - Head pastor, Rev. Paul Wirth, of Relevant Church poses a month long sex challenge to married members of the congregation - - 30 straight days of sex, or no sex at all. Wirth 'delivered the challenge to the married couples, citing the statistics: About half of all marriages end in divorce.'

I think it's wrong to assume that frequent sex = fixing your marriage. ...Should the church meddle in what goes on in the bedroom?

    • Well, it's important to note that, according to this little proposal, married couples are expected to have sex once a day, and the "or no sex at all" part is reserved for unmarried members of the congregation.

It may all seem very Victorian -- courtship for the unmarrieds, and wives fulfilling their wifely obligations -- but I'm not all that annoyed. One engaged couple notes that the challenge will give them a chance to know each other better as people, and I do think that's nice.

(It's also well worth noting that, if people really, really want to keep having sex -- or keep NOT having sex, or whatever -- nothing a pastor says will really influence them one way or the other, will it?)

    • the Church meddles in whatever it wants to, and the sheep follow the herd. But I think equating more sex with a better relationship is fallacious, bordering non-sequitur.

Now, better sex with a better relationship, MAYBE.
