McDonald's getting flack for supporting "the homosexual agenda"

Image
mario_a
Let me get this straight, McDonald's knowingly contributes to the obesity epidemic, plays an active role in helping squelch this nation's agriculutre systems, practices substandard beef and food health regulations, bioengineers food with unknown repurcussions, and yet the masses line up en masse to collect a coke, a smile, and a plastic happy meal toy.

Yet they support equal rights for other human beings who happen to be gay or lesbian and suddenly feathers are ruffled enough to get active in protest?

Wow...

    • here's a blast =D

Does no one read WSJ? =D their sales have been slumping. McDonald's could actually give a shit. They just want more of an audience to buy their menu items. To them, it's all about that mean green M-O-N-E-Y...based on the marketing idea that gays will flock ignorantly to whatever catering or "acceptance" they can find that "trumpets" or "flaunts" their cause in any meaning of "success" to potentially gloat in the face of predominant culture of heterosexuality ;D (I mean they probably go to McDonald's ANYWAY!) but McDonald's will help their flamboyance for the more frequent price of a burger, some fires and a coke "effeminately if you pleassssse"...just (shrewdly) "Show me the money!" the greedy bassturdz...

    • Those self rightous a-holes tried to the same thing to Disney in the 1990s. They said they were going to boycott the theme parks and Disney products because Disney gave health insurance to gay couples. Disney said "go ahead." Disney always had bent over backwards (no pun intended) for these church groups with discounted trips to Disney World and movie screenings. Disney felt that the amount of business they stood to lose was insignificant in relation to their whole enterprise. I cannot believe the hate mongers in this country who hide themselves behind religion.

    • I hate mcdonalds and their crap food, but i have to give them kudos for not listening to these crazy religious nutbags and their fear of letting people have their own choices on the issue. They are a huge corporation that realizes they are losing out on money and trust me, as rich as they are they are, they will not turn down money and any chance to make themselves look better after "super size me."
This "American Family Association" are nothing more than a bunch of bible hugging freaks who take a "book" so literally and will lock their kids up in a house and make them pray every five minutes or move every year due to fear of interaction with these "demons"! Religious freaks are "Gay for God" LOL

Mcdonalds is fun for all ages!!! It should be moderated by parents always, and enjoyed sometimes! but for the gay support im with it!!

    • strictly by the numbers , immigrants constitute a far greater employee base for Mcd's than "gays" . whatever "agenda" they endorse the fact remains that , so far as objectionable minorities conservatives might get their panties in a wad over , Mcd's poses very little threat to the sanctity of "sex" in this country . how many immigrants from mexico are both gay and employed by Mcd's ?

The boycott is not about who they are employing. This has nothing to do with that.

The issue is that they are now promoting the homosexual agenda as a corporation who is targeting children and families.

It's not like they're going to have Ronald McDonald and the Grimace getting married or something. I can think of much more un-family friendly things some other corporations do...like put trans-fat in foods.

I hope McDonald's doesn't give in to these bigotted, deluded conservatives.

    • homosexuals are normal fucking ppl.... chill and i praise Mcdonalds (assuming i read the post right) that they are actually supporting equal rights.... the ppl protesting deserve to be shot...

as far as their food policies... im cool with that... its the ppl's problem to devouring the big macs like crazy . after countless documentaries and movies showing the harmful effects of fatty foods... id rather these ppl died off and cleared my gene pool.....
Mcdonalds is simply profiting from public demand.. the very basis of capitalism and our country...

believe it or not its serving our country more than prolly any other food servicess....

    • I am boycotting Mc Donald for over a monh..

Ford was boycotted for over 2 years until they had enough

There is a cultural war in this country. No question about it.

We are in a self defense mode for the survival of healthy families.

Abortion is the killing of the child. Same sex marriage wil depend on disposable mother or father to exist.
It is the killing of one parent. Gender confusion is in the agenda.

Liberal are prochoice when it comes to abortion and do not want to be prochoice for education so they can brainwash the next generation in failling state schools.

I want to live prolife and free from this mess.

I also boycott AT&T, starbucks ,wholefood and Heinz

When the government fails the people, they will refuse to support it.

You never post actual, verifiable sources to go with your ridiculous tirades, and you never respond when someone brings up legitimate arguments against them (unless you count repeating yourself over and over again as a valid argument).
Which is why I'll keep my response relatively short, since I'm sure it's going to fall on ears stuffed and deafened by religious propaganda.
Your idea of the "gay agenda" is like something out of a Bible Man comic book. Evil laugh and all.
Do you actually *know* any of this, or are you just repeating what others have said, or going off your own assumptions?

You see things as either black or white - religiously so.
Where did abortion come into the conversation...?
      And seriously..."killing of one parent?"
I follow your logic, but it is bigoted, ignorant, malformed, and, well...illogical.
Think about those words, because I do mean them.

The US isn't/ shouldn't ever be a theocracy. Sorry.
Can't really argue with one of the pillars of our Constitution and still say you want to live in the US.
See the First Amendment, in case you've forgotten.

There is indeed a culture war, but it is one that extremist, divisive, knee-jerking people like you are propagating and fueling (I'm talking about both "sides of the fence").
I'm sure you are loving it. It gives you a Cause, something to be passionate about, however misplaced your passion is.
People asking for equal treatment under the law is not the problem.
Your crippled, delusional mindset is the problem.

Everything I write is actual, factual and verifiable. You can go to my archives.

      1) It is a verifiable fact that people who are screaming prochoice in terms of abortion are the same people that are blocking choices from children who are trapped in failling public schools They do not want to create competition but want this monopoly that they can control

      2) Homosexuals men who want children are using disposable mothers that will abandon their child and disappear. At 18 years of age, I billing that child can by law find about his or her mother. I call this the killing of a parent. This is factual and scientifically verifiable.

I have many more things more interesting to do than fighting your cultural war. I have no choice than defending what is right

If you are angry with God, talk to him directly. Stop using me as a scapegoat for your own issue.

One more thing, when the government is full of politicians will sell the country in order to be elected and who disregard the basic institution of the family, they will realise one day that most of mess we are dealing with , drug, divorce, violence etc... etc.. etc is caused by the destruction of the family unit.

They will never be able to raise enough money with taxes to fix it.

America is in a downward spiral culturally and now financially

      That is factual and verifiable

Every hour on or two person dies of aids in America.

      1) "It is a verifiable fact that people who are screaming prochoice in terms of abortion are the same people that are blocking choices from children who are trapped in failling public schools They do not want to create competition but want this monopoly that they can control"

Again, put up some sources, as this is speculation and blatant twisting of facts.
What are you talking about, "blocking choices from children in public schools?
Don't bring up creationism in schools, because that's an entirely different can of worms than anything having to do with gay rights - unless you're talking about religion in government, in which case, see the 1st amendment.
In any case, this is just more lumping of people into either Camp A or Camp B, more divisive BS.

      2) "Homosexuals men who want children are using disposable mothers that will abandon their child and disappear. At 18 years of age, I billing that child can by law find about his or her mother. I call this the killing of a parent. This is factual and scientifically verifiable."

Erm...the fact that surrogate mothers are being used for gay couples is indeed a fact, and verifiable...but your take on it is just that; an opinion.
Everyone has an opinion, just like everyone's got an asshole and an elbow and an ego.
Don't presume that your opinion is also indisputable fact. Arrogant much?

I am not "angry with God" - just arrogant people who presume to speak for him/ her/ it/ whateverthefuckitis.

You spit in the face of common sense by molding the world to fit your opinion of it.

Everything else you posted was a string of vague facts linked together by your OPINION, and you did nothing to prove that your opinion is correct.

Are you really saying that homosexuality/ gay rights = the source of all America's problems?
      Because, if so...damn. Just damn.
      You are delusional.
I know irrational scapegoating is a favorite pastime of most organized religions, but is that really such a good thing...?
From what I remember, it was this very pastime that got Jesus tortured to death.

soleil, you obviously don't know who is controlling schools, either. schools are controlled by politicians, not teachers or teachers unions. my mom has been a teacher for 30 years and she has petitioned, protested, screamed, yelled, picketed, civilly disobeyed, etc etc etc, the fact that there are (count) 10 books in our local elementary school library and 1 computer per classroom there.

the problem is that conservative politicians are cutting school funding for other bullshit programs, such as the war and vouchers.

vouchers only make public schools worse, while enabling private elitist, political, or religious schools to teach inequality.

horace mann knew the value of a uniform, across-the-board basic education for the american people, and conservatives have slowly eroded public education to promote their own agendas (i.e. religious schools).

      TEA runs texas public schools:

    • McDonald's joined the NGLCC. (National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce). So are these people going to boycott all the business's that are a part of the NGLCC?

Lets see, to name a few:

      IBM
      American Airlines
      American Express
      Blue Cross
      Aetna
      Kodak
      UPS
      Intel
      Motorola
BURGER KING (guess that boycotter didn't do his homework)
      Fanny Mae
      Coors Light
      AT&T
      Pfizer

And that is far from all on the list. If these people who are going to boycott McDonald's really want to stick to there guns, seems they are also going to get rid of their credit cards, cell phones, airlines, student loans, computers, prescriptions, etc.

In fact, I don't think there can possibly be many Americans who haven't used at least a few of the companies that contribute to this organization. I think a full onslaught boycott of all these companies would prove difficult without drastically changing your life around.

I realize that there are many other reasons to home school children and respect a parents decision to home school so long as they do so responsibly. Oh, and I don't eat McD's either.

    • "McDonald's knowingly contributes to the obesity epidemic,"

I have a big problem with that line.

First up though a declaration: I work in a Maccy D's.
It's hard work, it's min wage and no I'm not loving it. but it pays the bills and puts me through college.

For a start I don't see this Obesity epidemic, there was not one overweight person in my class in school and there is only 1 in my college class. (anecdotal I know) I see obese people from time to time, recently I saw a woman so fat she was on one of those motorised buggies.
But these are the exception to the rule.
( I believe it is as overhyped as both the Celtic tiger and the impending recession doom)

Maybe all the children are fat, maybe because the media have frightened everyone into thinking the Paedos are out to get em and kids need to locked up away from them....
I don't know, i don't spend time near kids in case the Sun getg a mob after me.

Either way, there is no way in hell McDonalds is responsibly for people's obesity even people who eat there 3 times a day, every day.

Personal responsibility or the lack thereof is one of the greatest problems in society. EVERYTHING is always someone else's fault.

If you are fat you made yourself that way (exception being fat children....) and you can undo it.
It is not impossible to lose weight and it can be easy enough to put it on, but Obesity takes effort.

Where fo you live? I want to go there. Around here, you can see whales disguised as humans feeding their children french fries as a baby's first solid food. It is a sad sight, and good old McDonalds has been a great contributor. If you live on empty carbs and saturated fats, fat you will become.

    • Owwmykneecap:

@Owwmykneecap -- I totally see your points. My point, however, is that McDonald's has knowingly targeted kids in their marketing campaigns (the whole Happy Meal is a grab at the youth market). For the longest time they maintained that their food was "healthy" until they were forced to revise their menu to avoid further criticism. They continue to practice, but it has admittedly toned down.

Adults who have dug themselves into a hole should totally take responsibility, however a 5 yr. old cannot. If McDonald's targets a poorer family, the parents could (and should) still try to do right by their kids by steering clear of fast food, but ultimately there is a bit of "preying on the weak" type of thing going on there. Most lower income families have to work harder to make ends meet, so the convenience and allure of fast food often wins (on top of the affordability, etc).

It's unfortunate, but they need to practice corporate responsibility, just like parents need to take responsibility for their choice (and individuals should take responsibility for their choices as well).

      Just a thought.

    • Some of the comments on the boycottmcdonalds site are kinda racist too. It's kind of hard to believe that people are trying to build families with such ignorant views.

Also, it seems like the only good thing anybody can say about McDonald's is that they like the fries.

    • I'm glad they're holding their ground against religious assholes.

But I still won't touch their "food." I like my chicken nuggets without butane thank you very much.

    • Finally a huge company takes pride in having gay workers work for them. I can only hope that Mc's is not the only place that allows this.

    • I wonder why such a huge multinational company is taking the risk of losing millions of homophobic American clients.
They certainly have an agenda, but I believe it has nothing to do with gay rights. They're using the rainbow flag to cover up something else.

Seriously? I find this comment to be as inane as the ones on the Boycott McDonalds' website. Yes, I really believe that McDonalds' is launching a huge, international subverssive campaign to take over the world using HomoSexuals, its called Operation Pink Shield...

    • If they are really interested in family values, then they should have used all the money that went into this homophobic campaign to support programs aimed at directly helping families in need.

    • Oh my god. Some of the responses on that site are unintentionally both hilarious and terrifying.
      It's such a shame.

When's J_Jammer going to wade in with his usual tirade?

What you expect me to say that McDonald's rocks?

That they are like an individual they can do whatever they see fit, cause this is America and people have a choice as to whether they eat there or not?

      That I don't eat there.

If I must I use their dollar menu....or chicken nuggets but that's a rarity. I do really love their fries and McGriddles. mmmmMmm so good.

This just goes to show that protesting is a tired subject and no one cares.

      Yeah. That'll be the day.
