Is sex with a robot hooker cheating?

So asks the headline at website Asylum. So far the poll shows 77% of respondents consider a little robot-love to be guilt free, something I'd agree with – after all, an all-singing, all-dancing (and all-sucking) robot doll is just a better featured vibrator, right?

The Lady, whom I always consult in matters sexual and sartorial, agrees. "Do you think using a vibrator is having sex?" she asked me, "I do. It's having sex, but it's not getting laid."

But what about the partner left at home? Because these dolls are so human, waving goodbye to your man as he heads off to the cyber-brothel might not be so easy. The erotic part of sex, after all, occurs in the mind, and the only reason to use a full sized fake woman is to pretend you are with a real woman.

In the mind of the John, is there a difference between the two? Is it the high-tech equivalent of getting up on the job, closing your eyes and pretending you are actually having sex with a celebrity (or as I have done in the past, drawing the face of Queen Elizabeth on a paper bag)? And if it is done illicitly, without the knowledge of your other half, is that deception is worse than the sex itself?

We suppose that there are advantages. No viruses (unless the girl runs Windows), and no payoff money if you happen to be a high profile, blackmail-able celebrity (a Gadget Lab blogger, for instance). For me, it comes down to price. If it's cheaper than dinner and a movie, I'm in."

Interesting! I think it depends on how human like the robots are and to what extent they emotionally relate to the human.

    • I don't believe sex is necessarily cheating. Falling in love with someone else is a bigger problem for me. If I found out my husband was screwing a robot, I'd be worried if she looked anything like Halle Berry.

    • This is going really far. I see "Busy" women buying these to get things done quickly in a rushed world.

      Who cares about cheating? "Your wife/GF had to go to a Vibrator or "Robot" to get the deal done". You should:
      1. Dump her.
      2. Read something about pleasing women in the bed.

      Eh, there's nothing wrong with a girl owning a vibrator to use. That'd be like her getting mad because you masturbate when she's not around. Now, if she uses the vibrator too much and gets too attached to it or your relationship suffers because of it, then it's a problem.

      Or only with the mecha because it was easier to form an emotional attachment with Joe than a vibrator?

    • Can you cheat with porn or a vibrator? You can't cheat with something that isn't human.

      Depends on how rusty it got and if there was a scratch on her to let the rust into the bloodstream.

      I'd guess you'd have to be very sloppy to let it that go that far but it's been known to happen with addicts and needles, there is such a thing as sex addiction also.

    • It depends on the emotional attachment to the robot doesn't it?

      If you'd rather chose the robot (or even a vibrator) over your partner then I'd say it's a problem.

      Good example, since in that movie the guy had a strong emotional attachment to Cherry and it wasn't until the end that he worked through it to be able to bond with a gal.

      If he had been with the gal at the beginning and then used Cherry that would've been cheating since Pamela Gidley was hot too.

    • Is she married, I'm a moral girl myself. I feel as if cheating is in the heart sometimes. Why cheat where is he or she. Have you discussed what your doing or is there secrets. So I guess what we are saying is how far will we go for self.

    • I don't know. I mean, I hate to stereotype, but I can see this having a double standard for men. If women do it, they'll talk about vibrators, but if a man goes and fucks a robot female, any spouse will compare it to getting a hooker or cheating. They do it now with porn.

      Enough. It's the whole "I should be all he needs" thing. But really, guys are visual creatures. We can't help it. Females tend to be more imaginative (hence romance novels and the like). But really, there's enough for the stereotype. And I know quite a few girls who think porn is just as bad as cheating and said they wouldn't let their boyfriends watch any.

    • how can u peope actually give into something without the emotional connection of another person? I guess if it's sex for sex, then nothings gained or lost. but if it's a relationship with a partner.....it's definetly cheating.

      Anyway, I think it depends on the bot.

      If it's just literally a glorified vibrator, then no.

      But if it's a bot with an AI construct that has cognitive abilities, then it is essentially human. Obviously, we're not there yet. But if we did get to that point, I would consider that cheating.

      Personally, I'm pretty flexible when it comes to "cheating." It's more about the intent then the act for me. I think people are way too demanding when it comes to sexual monogamy.
