Their research showed that throughout history small numbers of men have fathered children with large amounts of women.
The results published in online journal PLoS Genetics showed that the female X chromosome was much more varied than non-sex chromosomes, known as autosomes.
This is the opposite of what would be expected in populations with an equal number of breeding men and women, the study said.

They didn't do a 'control'. IE they needed to do some neck sniffing without the skunk oil first ...
that would be control 1.
....& THEN they needed to be given some fake skunk oil by someone else who would tell them that they would be more attractive to women wearing it - thus encouraging them to behave in a more flirtatious and provocative manner...

then they could compare both alt vs with control 3 wearing skunk...
so - i think they needed to do more of this.... to prove it wasn't just their flirty behaviour.

Sorry but this is an over-simplification. Its fun to believe because its about sex, but it doesn't account for the important "nuture" side of the coin.
Sure, promiscuous men have more kids, but what builds vibrant, healthy cultures that are actually better at sustaining your genetic code? Nuturing your children.
Human beings have to raised by adult for at least 10 years at the bare minimum and until 16 or so in order to sustain a culture. That takes the opposite strategy from fucking as much as you can.

How short are these guys? Im not immediately attracted to tall guys what so ever! I'm sure thats not really weird. I've found guys attractive who are shorter than me, though i guess i would prefer a guy who is slightly taller than me. But not by much!

It doesn't matter that much. I'm 5'8" and I've dated girls that are my height. It's mostly because i've developed myself into a confident person.
So I'm not worried.
There's a lot of tall people I know that are boring as hell, and would not get girls because of their personality. When it comes down to it, it's your attitude (and tall people can have shitty attitudes) more than anything else.

Just remember guys, that when they refer to short men they mean men 5'7 and below. If your not 5'7 or shorter then your're doing fine with height.
Many and most (though not all) ladies won't actually admit that they prefer guys that are tall, and might actually lie to themselves that they have no preference. But they do... Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Short guys just have a tougher job ahead of them and some might not be up to it...

Well the science comes down to natural selection. The alpha males mate with females because the alpha males apparently have the best genes for reproduction (alpha males are usually the strongest, etc).
People are getting taller partly because usually alpha males are taller men and women therefore are attracted to taller men.
I don't know, I thought it was a no brainer.

This isn't news. Alpha males exist in practically all species - they are the confident leaders, and as a result, females are attracted to them. They say 20% of men get 80% of women.
Lucky for humans, a person can develop themselves into an alpha, so not everyone has to walk around and be betas if they don't want to.
