Askmen.com's top 10 Gentlemanly gestures

Call me old-fashioned, but this kind of stuff holds a lot of sway with me, especially the point about introducing the girl to your friends. There's nothing worse than being on a date with a guy who bumps into someone he knows and doesn't introduce you. It makes you feel really uncomfortable. Mind you it's probably because he can't remember their name!

Good tip in that situation: brief the person you're with as the no name friend approaches and get them to introduce themselves first so the no name friend is forced to introduce themselves.

    • All these things should be a given! Holding the door and not offering up your seat are the two I see most regularly ignored. However, I would say that the last thing you want is a lady thinking you offered her a seat because she looked as if she was pregnant!

    • It's sad to see that what once was common courtesy is now classified separately as 'gentlemanly gestures', requiring extra effort above the expected norm.

    • All of these points make a big impression me as well... except #8 - Watch your language. Seeing I have a mouth like a sailor, I'd feel pretty embarrassed if he was constantly saying shoot and darn and h-e-double-hockey-sticks. That said, maybe it would be good for me to try to watch my mouth... nah, f*ck that.
