Just like Clinton, to help only his personal friends. This is OBSCENE! Just like his last thing he did as president, which was to pardon his own brother for cocaine charges while millions of americans sat in jail for the same type things. Sure I'm happy he got his spy friends released. But to hell with this good ole boy crap!

Even my comments here are designed to help people I don't know. Help them to wake up to the obvious. And once a cop was going to let me off a ticket because he "knew my boss" and I told him I didn't like that idea at all, what if he didn't know my boss? he then asked If I wanted a ticket anyways and I said no. I got no ticket from that pig.

lol! What a quick tongue and baseless judgments. Well, they have just returned and are recovering with their friends and family. Then, they'll begin their work. And if I remember correctly, they actually have videos about themselves, going around the world, reporting on the tragedies around the world. How about stop being lazy and searching for them on Current. What a grand idea!
Do you even know WHY they were near North Korea? But of course, they must have been there, running and dancing around the border and got caught. They're just dirty spies.
Learn about the entire situation before you're quick to make such stupid and baseless comments. If you're not going to even bother, then to quote, "stfu."

Bla bla bla, they were trying to get a hot story. You can post this link (which doesn't exist by the way) About them reporting about the victimless criminals being held in the USA, Until then you can stfu, and know that I have won this debate. Not the first time I have pointed out the blatantly obvious which sheepies like you overlook regularly, and yeah I hope you can back up your claim, but you can't !. And frankly If you or I were over there, we would remain there. So now just STFU

Oh wow...you told me to stfu. My feelings are so hurt. Waah waah waahhh. Lol, it seems you can't back your claims up and in order to be "right," you like to tell people to stfu because you don't want opposition to your opinion. How pitiful.

Can you even read? You pointed out nothing. It is "all about me" with Clinton and this group. Just like Clinton pardoning his own brother and leaving his fellow americans locked up for the same things. So unless you can come up with something better than a link to the selfish "journalists" profile..... STFU!

Next, it just made me think that no matter what we disagree with in this country these two women are very grateful to be back in the USA and you would too. Just made me think. Yo 210: You have a point; however, what Laura and Euna did (and do) is what good journalists do: take grave risks to show the world what they believe is significant and needs to be seen. And, yes, for that there are no sensitivities involved when you encounter people who don't want you in their house. And sure, Bill's hip to McLuhan, that's why he use's the medium so well, he's the Dem's only real weapon--didja hear alla sex jokes on late-nite? That's as much a hit to L + E as to Bill, and who else would give the Dems a dose of Great Hope when they need it as much as L + E needed to be restored to their country (*not* rescued, please)?
Anyway, I am very impressed at the way Laura and Euna maintained their equanimity and that Laura gave herself time to speak...slowly...so she could harness the power of what must surely have been her overwhelming feelings to speak
emotionally without breaking---i.e., without making this into a 'damsel in distress rescued by Big Bill' situation, which is what the media want to do. It isn't: it isn't any different than Daniel (?) Pearl, the journalist who was eventually beheaded in Iraq. Props to ya both. And thanks 210 for bringing us a different point of view to discuss. If we all keep preaching to the choir and don't doubt and question our own political pets we will be guilty of behaving like 'Them'. - 2 years ago

I'm sorry did you say woman of color? Would you be trying to imply that anyone who isn't "White" is a person of color? cause I don't know if you know this but white is a color, but let me tell you what else is wrong with your narrow minded statement.
1. These two women are Asian Americans if you search Mongoloid race in wikipedia you would see (most) Asians are defined by their skull structure and earwax (it being dry and flaky, part of their evolution) with a few variations throughout .
2. White people are a minority in the world and a lot of "White" people are bi or multi-racial, I myself am part Cherokee but you'd never be able to tell by looking at me unless you were smart enough to notice my cheekbones
3. Race is not color, Race is defined by genetics and characteristics that have developed from those genetics, that's how some African Americans were able to pass as white people back in the day.
4. If you aren't Asian American you have no business lumping yourself into a category with these ladies, your statement was racist towards white people if so, if you aren't there is no way you fully understand Asian culture and there is no way you fully understand white culture because you aren't one and you don't live that way. The color of your skin is one factor that makes up race, most of it being genetics that have its roots in one area of the world being passed down for centuries the other being culture, the things people eat, the way they dress, religious beliefs and general thought.
You have no business including every race but white into a category of "people of color" it's insensitive and frankly you're a fucking idiot, I bet you think Jews are white, maybe you should think about educating yourself properly on the races of the world and realize and understand the multitude of races and how YOU don't fit in to 99% of them... If it weren't for that white man who went and got them they wouldn't be free and keep in mind the people that imprisoned them were Asian... Things aren't so black and white you need to realize there are a billion shades of gray, hell our own president may look "black" but he's not he's bi racial.

Irresopnsible? People cross over the border in America every single year at the cost of every single American and people don't care...but bring back two Americans because of an overreaction of a single government just because they were women and American is too much money?
Congress sits on their butt and fights like five year olds on who to put on a bench and what to do about health care and the Speaker of the House reacts to an interview on NPR like a spoiled brat and yet the problem is never OMG we pay for those idiots as much as it should constantly be...
Two people were mistreated for actions that they did so unwittingly and they were going to be punished far too severely for crossing an imaginary line that only a map can honestly dictate with any distinction.
People get up in arms over the misstreatment of terrorist in prison.....
...but these two have harmed no one.
I think this is the best way to spend tax payer's money....far better than paying lazy, fat, obnoxious no good political persons in congress. I think that this great thing that Clinton accomplished should be payed by congress without touching a single cent of our money...because then they can honestly state that they did something this session...well at least via funds.

Not a comment on the video itself (like everyone I am happy they are back) but on the front page HTML. It cycles through the videos, font page bullet points. If I click on the video to play it, it does not stop the cycling through to another video, image article. So, I click play it plays, video does not finish and it shows me another video or article image. Hope that's clear. Seems like a flaw to me.

How cocky of a human being is Euna Lee? And her partner! Even though there was a microscopic chance of nuclear war erupting because of this, they did it anyways. They by passed international diplomacy and EXPLICITLY trespassed into North Korea. Bill Clinton should have left them there, but he needed some more camera time. If they are stupid enough to trespass into hostile territory, then they should face the consequences. I believe Al Gore had something to do with this since he is a "co-founder" of Current media. Clinton saved your butt? In depth reporting is fine. Risking the safety of South Korea and surrounding nations is not. Shame on those reporters and too bad they got off so easy.

Injustice? Remember they snuck into Kim Jong's backyard were that word doesn't exist.
If you take the risks, know the consequences and be respectful of other people's situations.
Insensitive? What do sensitivities have anything to do with international diplomacy?
Your good at reading headlines. Check out the new one on Yahoo! It states that Bill Clinton only went because Kim Jong REJECTED Al Gore. Clinton didn't negotiate. If Kim Jong didn't promise their release then Clinton would have never gone. Where is Bill Clinton's sensitivity? How come he wouldn't have gone to negotiate? Because he understands international diplomacy and sensitivity has NOTHING to do with it. He would have left those two reporters to break stones. He would rather not look like a fool if Kim Jong would have not released them. Instead he looks like a hero. Its all a media spin.
I have NO personal vendettas with ANYONE. It just seems outrageous to me that people have lost their sense of historical perspective on the Korean Peninsula, if they ever had one. I realize it has been 56 years since the signing of the armistice, but how hard is it to open up the history books. Realize how the chess pieces moved on the world theater and maybe the masses will understand. North Korea and South Korea is a VERY fragile situation, and two reporters messing with that in ANY DEGREE is irresponsible and disrespectful.

2102512:
First, your comment about violating North Korea's sovereignty, it's called UNDERCOVER. Almost every reporter does it. If they want to pursue a topic that involves them to go undercover, depending on the risk, they may do it.
Let me ask you something. Were you originally in support of Bush's war in Iraq? If you did, then I find it HIGHLY hypocritical. Yes, complain about two reporters that wanted to report on a story while ignoring the past administration's mistakes. Also, these girls were not the first to do such as thing. Reporters from the LA times went undercover and did a 3-day front page story about what is going on in North Korea. If it wasn't for these reporters, we wouldn't even know about the dictatorship.
"Bill Clinton should have left them there, but he needed some more camera time."
What?! Are you serious?! He went to the other side to save TWO AMERICAN CITIZENS. And you consider that as his attempt for CAMERA TIME? You have to be grabbing straws now."Risking the safety of South Korea and surrounding nations is not. Shame on those reporters and too bad they got off so easy."
That didn't even make any sense. What is your logic to make you come to those conclusions. I want to feel "enlightened" about why.And to respond generally to your comments, it seems like fear mongering. Sounds similar to the communist scare (like the McCarthy era) and the Cold War. "Beware! They POSSIBLY could attack us!" Give me a break. Yes, it should be taken into account about possibilities with attack. But that is the same with every damn country. Inciting fear creates mass chaos which leads to what happened during the communist scare.

he's partially right, anytime a foreigner breaks a law in our country they face criminal charges here, usually it amounts to a revocation of a visa and deportation. Sometimes they will face charges in their own country or imprisonment in ours. Lets not forget about our enemy combatants that we have held without legal representation for an indeterminate amount of time in Gitmo (some of which have been "proven" to have no affiliation with islamic radicals). The lesson to be learned here is know what you are doing, know the laws, know the consequences and be prepared to take full accountability for your actions even if you aren't necessarily responsible. (I am very glad they are back home) but we should remember that being a journalist isn't a free pass to trespass and I don't 100% believe it was an accident. Even if the punishment doesn't fit the crime it's not our place to say anything, I don't see you all getting crushed over the fact that we've tried to bring Marc Emery down here from Canada to face life imprisonment or Tommy Chong jail time for lending his name to a company he didn't even participate in (and that happened on your soil), there are many unjust things in this world you can't go around boo hooing about them all, again so glad they are back home with their families.

You have the right to be ignorant of the situation.
I have the right to know, as this country is a haven for the free exchange of information.
Therefore, I demand my right to know be enforced. You can dissent elsewhere, and elsewhere not care about knowing.

I take it you share and tell the truth all time, do you not? You have never withheld information from any authority figure..be it parent, teacher or officer?--a few examples.
This idea that everything is necessary to know and understand is a bit of stretch. As it has been proven on several occasions it matters not what the truth is, people see what they want to see----as if what you think now would be any different after you know? I don't think so.
I say that because of the way that you're asking to know.
And your stance could be liken to Guise Baltar on Battlestar Galatica. Demanding to know things that he had no need to know....and then getting his way and screwing up everything because of his wanting was selfish not for the betterment of anyone....especially not himself.

I'm not on trial here, so I'm not answering your line of questioning.
People, including myself, were censored on this site in regards to breaking the original story. I as well as others would like to know why. Since you don't, please stow your dissent. Especially since I was not asking you and was instead directing my question to the Currrent staff.
It's pretty annoying for you to always assert your opinon under the assumption you are infallable. In addition, don't liken me to some fictional character in some series that has nothing to do with the topic at hand. I have the right to know why I was censored, as do others on this site. No harm will come from telling everyone why they were censored, and you do not speak on behalf of Current, it's community, or it's staff.
This is one of those A-B conversations. You're interjecting a C into the equation. Therefore your assistance is not needed.
