Danish footballer Jonathan Richter, of Danish Superliga side FC Nordsjælland, has had the lower half of a leg amputated after he was struck by lightning during a game.
The unlucky 24-year-old midfielder was in a coma for ten days before doctors made the decision to remove the lower part of his left leg.
Helpfully, his Wikipedia entry informs anyone interested that "Even though it has not officially been confirmed, experts believe Richter’s career in football could be over."
Thanks experts!

Jeez, poor fella! Bad enough to get struck by lightning, but to then need your leg amputated (to boot) - especially when one's a professional footballer...
Hopefully he'll read the story about the woman who sailed 'round Britain despite not having the use of either her arms or legs.
